How to maintain — so the cover lasts for years

A new seat cover looks and feels good. To keep it that way, the material needs a minimum of care. The good news: for outdoor synthetic leather, the effort is minimal. No leather grease, no special cleaners, no elaborate rituals.

Regular Cleaning

Dust, insect residues, and light dirt can be removed with a damp cloth and a mild soap solution. Do not use aggressive cleaning agents, alcohol, or acetone — these will damage the surface and can harm the material's UV protection layer.

For heavier soiling — chain grease, brake dust, tar stains — a cleaner suitable for synthetic leather can help. Apply a small amount to a soft cloth and gently rub the affected area. Do not scrub or scratch.

Waterproofing

Our covers are water-repellent and rainproof ex-works. The seams are sewn with waterproof thread and heat-treated. This is sufficient for normal use.

If the motorcycle is regularly exposed to rain or does not have a covered parking space, additional waterproofing with a product suitable for synthetic leather is recommended. The waterproofing creates an invisible protective layer that makes water and dirt bead off even better. Applying it once or twice per season is sufficient.

UV Protection

UV radiation is the greatest enemy of any seat cover. Motorcycles parked permanently in the sun show material fatigue faster — this applies to both genuine leather and synthetic leather. Our material is UV-resistant and colorfast, but no material is immune to unlimited UV exposure.

If possible: park the motorcycle in the shade or under a cover. A seat cover or a motorcycle cover protects against direct sunlight and significantly extends the lifespan of the cover.

Winter Storage

Before winter storage, clean the seat and store it dry. Do not place foil directly on the seat — this can trap condensation and cause stains. A breathable motorcycle cover is a better choice.

What to Avoid

Do not transport sharp objects on the seat. Do not use solvents. Do not drive staple gun staples through the seating surface during installation. And: regularly check if the staples on the underside are still firm — loose staples will cause the cover to shift and wrinkle.
